Ancestral Goa Museum / Big Foot

The Ancestral Goa museum/ exhibition is located within the tiny Village of Loutolim that is about 10 km from Margao and 25 km from Panaji. The musuem can be recognized as large foot. It’s privately run by an artist referred to as Maendra Jocelino Araujo Alvares. The open-air museum recreates Goan rural lifestyle because it was 100 many years in the past.

At Ancestral Goa you will find a number of locations to go to for example an artwork gallery exactly where one can see operate completed by native kids and artists of State and Nationwide fame. There is a handicraft centre where one can get some locally produced Goan artificats, Massive Foot dance ground, Large Foot restaurant, a cross, a spring recognized as Boca da Vaca, a hen habitat, a spice garden, rubber plantations and lots extra.

But the main highlight of Ancestral Goa is the large 14-metre sculpture of Sant Mirabai, sculpted in 30 days by enterprising artist and museum owner MJA Alavres. It is still mentioned in the Limca Information Guide as India’s longest laterite sculpture.

At Ancestral Goa, you will be accompanied by a guide explaining the exhibits. Also one can buy souvenirs on the way out in the handicraft centre. The museum is open on all days from 9 am to 6 pm and features a small entry fee.
