Arambol

Arambol also known as Harmal is located 32km northwest of Mapusa . While occasional parties may attract visitors from Anjuna and Vagator, Arambol remains a peaceful and secluded destination. The modern town is spread across a hilly area in the western part of the region.

Modern Arambol is scattered across an elevated area to the west of the main coastal road, where most of the buses stop.

From there, a rough lane descends past a large school and the village church to the more traditional part of the village. This area is clustered beneath a canopy of palm trees, with the main beach located 200m further along the lane. The gently curving bay is lined with old wooden fishing boats and tourist cafĂ©-bars, providing a suitable spot for bathing , although it may be less picturesque compared to its neighboring beach around the corner . To reach “Paradise Beach,” follow the trail above the headland to the north.

Beyond a rocky cove with a somewhat unpleasant odor the path opens up to a wide strip of soft white sand flanked by steep cliffs on both sides. Behind it, a small freshwater lake extends along the valley floor into a dense jungle. If you linger by the banks of the murky green pond, you may catch a glimpse of fluorescent – yellow figures appearing in the bushes at its far end. The lake is fed by hot springs and is lined with sulphurous mud, which, when applied to the body, dries to form a surreal butter-colored shell.
